I didn't get my first car until the end of 1984, after I'd graduated from high school. It was a 1977 Datsun King Cab with an AM radio and about a million miles on it. It was old and beat-up and wonderful. Other cars I've owned (in order of ownership):

• a 1979 Dodge Omni. It looked like a VW Rabbit with a thyroid problem. Worst engine design ever- you couldn't work on the car without taking the whole thing apart. The car also featured a driver's side window that would fall into the door if you didn't hold the window whiole rolling it down.
• a 1967 Dodge Coronet. Fun to drive, but a rolling death trap. Horrible gas mileage, augmented by a leaky gas tank. Pic 'n' Save radio in a shoebox where the glove compartment was supposed to be.
• a 1988 Toyota Camry. It managed to run for 17 years and 270,000 miles before I had to replace it.
• a 2002 Toyota Camry. The newest car I've ever owned. My first car with a CD player.
